Is there any way to describe today other than perfect? We all started out the day full of anticipation and exhausted after yesterdays work and events, but it was as if God was arranging everything perfectly to give us that boost of energy and motivation. First step onto the school grounds we were greeted by hugs, kisses, giggles, and smiles from the most precious children I’ve ever seen. The beautiful faces immediately inspired us and the fun began. The air was filled with the sound of little voices worshipping our lord and incredible women from the community teaching them about Pauls courage in 2 Timothy 1:7 “For the spirit god gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self discipline.” I was overwhelmed by the joy the Lord filled all of us with today. There was a good 30 minutes that about 20 two to five year olds ran back and forth across a porch laughing with us as we tickled and teased them. I took a minute to take it all in and absorb every little laugh full of courage, love, and power. During lunch, Herman, the sweetest old man who lives across from the school brought us bananas from his trees. These were the best bananas i’ve ever tasted in my life! Partially because they are fresh Dominican Bananas and literally EVERYTHING tastes better here, but mainly because this Señor has barely anything but because his heart is so full of love and generosity he gave us his precious bananas! Im constantly amazed at how much the Dominican people exemplify and teach me about love, generosity, and being humble. There may be a lot of things they are lacking compared to our comfortable American lives but trust me fruits of the spirit are aplenty among these wonderful people. We then got to work on the second floor of the school. We finished lugging the treacherous sand pile to the roof! So much fun working together as a team on this project and relying on the lord for strength. Just when it started to get hot, God perfectly placed some clouds or a huge breeze would blow through. Today it was so clear that God had our backs:) Our night ended with a delisioso dinner prepared by Mommy and Sairys amazing family and capped it off with some awesome worship with the team led by Kurt. God is showing up big time here in the DR and we’re all so so thankful for these opportunities to experience and be apart of it!
